Rock Field Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Rock Field), founded in 1972, operates "RF1," which offers a variety of prepared foods, mainly salads, with a focus on health, safety, security, and freshness, as well as "Kobe Croquette," which provides croquettes made with carefully selected ingredients and methods.

The company, which handles everything from raw material procurement to production and sales, has been gradually migrating its mission-critical system, core system to the cloud, taking into consideration business continuity. In 2025, the logistics system was the target of the cloud migration. Although some changes were made to data integration with other systems during the migration, the company continued to use HULFT and DataMagic, which it had been using previously, and the migration was completed smoothly. This was due to the company's absolute trust in HULFT and DataMagic.

Customer Issues

  • We want to handle the changes in data integration resulting from the migration of our logistics system to the cloud while keeping costs down.

Benefits of implementation

We were able to implement data integration without modifying the partner system.

The tool was highly user-friendly, making it easy to adjust and process even the smallest details.

When combined with HULFT, it supports automated execution, enabling stable data transfer and processing.

Moving the logistics system that supports our business model to the cloud.

As a leading company in the ready-to-eat food market, Rock Field operates a variety of prepared food brands. While pursuing added value and strengthening store services for existing brands, the company also aims to expand into new areas such as the frozen food brand "RFFF (Rufufufu)". With the vision of "Unlocking the possibilities of food and co-creating a prosperous future. SUSTAINABLE FOOD COMPANY," the company is also focusing on strengthening energy conservation measures and reducing environmental impact in order to realize sustainable food abundance. Above all, one of the company's strengths is its commitment to safety, security, deliciousness, and freshness, covering everything from production and logistics to sales, and delivering products manufactured in its own factories to stores nationwide.

For the past five years, the company has also been promoting digital transformation (DX), and is currently evolving the system infrastructure that supports its business model to be more flexible in responding to business changes. In particular, the infrastructure has been gradually moved to the cloud with the aim of improving business continuity, and this time it was decided to migrate the logistics system. "The logistics system was built on on-premise servers, but due to the aging of the hardware, we decided to migrate it to the cloud. The migration required modifications to data integration parts with other systems (Mr. Ota)." The logistics system is linked to the sales management system, which stores use to order necessary products, and the production management system, which manages the production process at the factory, supporting everything from ordering to production and logistics. "The sales management system has already been migrated to the cloud, so modifying it again would be time-consuming and costly. The challenge was how to link them without incurring additional costs (Mr. Ota)."

Regarding modifications to data integration section, "HULFT and DataMagic can handle it."

Originally, the logistics system was based on a packaged product, but with detailed customizations to suit the company's operations, such as "adding unique items like shipping label information to be attached to containers during delivery." "This customization is essential for a system that supports logistics to deliver goods without errors or delays, but it also required a unique development of data integration," says Mr. Ota.

When data integration between systems, one method is to directly reference the database and link them tightly, but this would have a wide impact when system modifications are made, so loosely coupled data integration was used. "Basically, we link via CSV files, but fine adjustments are essential, such as 'this item is not used so exclude it from the CSV' or 'unexpected data has been added at the end so remove it' (Mr. Ota)." Implementing all of this manually would be a considerable burden.

However, the company had previously connected its mission-critical system, core system using HULFT and combined it with DataMagic, and had confidence in its stability and ease of use. "We were confident that we could handle this situation with this combination as well. It also offered significant cost advantages compared to system modifications, and building it ourselves from scratch was not an option (Mr. Ota)."

DataMagic needed to be switched to a version compatible with the new environment, so they consulted with Otsuka Shokai, with whom they have a business relationship for various products, including HULFT. "Otsuka Shokai handles a wide range of products, so we asked them to help us again this time. They also handle DataMagic, so it's helpful that we can request various tools all at once (Mr. Ota)."

Data processing and transformation are extremely simple. It can also be automated as a HULFT task.

data integration accompanying the cloud migration was completed very smoothly. "I don't recall any problems at all, and there were no troubles (Mr. Ota)." He cites its ease of use as one of DataMagic 's attractions. It can easily perform tasks such as CSV format conversion, processing such as removing single quotes from items, and deleting items.

Furthermore, by using it in combination with HULFT, it becomes possible to call up DataMagic 's data transformations as tasks and execute them automatically. "We feel that combining the two makes it even more user-friendly," says Ota.

The stability of HULFT and DataMagic underpins all mission-critical system, core system.

No problems have occurred since migrating to the cloud, including issues with data integration. mission-critical system, core system related projects have been completed, and the goal now is to ensure continuous and stable operation as the foundation of the business. Meanwhile, the membership app, which was launched four years ago, is also stable in terms of its infrastructure and operation. In the future, the company plans to integrate information from the membership app with information from POS registers and other sources to improve marketing and customer satisfaction.

"All our various initiatives are based on production, logistics, and sales. We highly value the stability of HULFT and DataMagic, which are responsible for coordinating these processes, and we intend to continue using them in the future (Mr. Ota)."
