Established in 1997 as a publicly funded, privately operated university, Kochi University of Technology, now a public university, actively incorporates advanced Education systems under the motto of "a university where people grow." However, challenges have long existed, such as the fact that student data, including entrance examinations and employment, was managed separately by each department, limiting data utilization to only a select few, and that the integration of management data, including financial accounting and personnel and payroll data, was insufficient.

Kochi University of Technology decided that a realistic approach would be to aim for overall optimization by interconnecting the optimal systems for each task, and began considering the development of data integration platform. The university decided to implement "DataSpider Servista," with requirements including the ability to develop in-house and flexible access to various databases within the university.
