Saison Technology Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Makoto Hayama; hereinafter referred to as "Saison Technology") has been trialing sleep testing using the brainwave measurement device "InSomnograf" and AI (artificial intelligence) technology since July as part of its efforts to support the improvement of employees' physical and mental health.

It has been reported that sleep is related to a variety of physical and mental health issues, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's "Sleep Guide for Health Promotion 2023" points out that "ensuring adequate sleep time" and "improving sleep restfulness" are important issues that all citizens should address. While there is growing awareness that good quality sleep is essential for health and affects daytime performance, a survey by the OECD (*) reported that Japan has the shortest sleep time out of 33 developed countries, making it "the country that sleeps the least in the world."

Saison Technology places great importance on the impact of sleep and has launched an initiative to use sleep technology to improve employee health by offering sleep tests using the brainwave measurement device "InSomnograf." "InSomnograf" is a device provided by S'UIMIN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masashi Yanagisawa; hereinafter "S'UIMIN"), and can be used in the same bedroom environment as usual, such as at home. Employees' brainwaves during sleep are analyzed using AI, and approximately 20 sleep indicators are calculated each night. Employees receive a final report from an expert based on the five-day test results, and if the results do not meet certain standards, the company will cover a portion of the consultation fees at a specialized medical institution to support sleep improvement.

Saison Technology plans to introduce this sleep diagnosis initiative to managers aged 40 and over, and gradually expand the target audience.

Comment from Makoto Hayama Representative Director and President of Saison Technology

We have identified "people" as one of our material issues, and we place great importance on protecting and caring for the health of our employees as the foundation of this. Sleep tests using "InSomnograf" have been used to identify previously unrecognized risks, such as sleep apnea syndrome, leading to early treatment. In addition to diagnoses such as health checkups and comprehensive medical examinations, we hope to utilize the new objective data of sleep tests to more comprehensively support the improvement of employee health.

Comment from Masashi Yanagisawa, President and CEO of S'UIMIN

It is said that one in five working-age Japanese people suffers from sleep problems, and it has become clear that sleep affects work performance. Introducing a sleep visualization service based on scientific evidence will protect employee health, improve corporate management and performance, and we are paying close attention to Saison Technology's efforts.
