Environmental Initiatives
In order to protect a rich and sustainable global environment for the future, we are actively promoting initiatives such as energy conservation and the prevention of global warming.
Promoting environmental improvement
When we moved our head office from Ikebukuro to Akasaka in November 2017, we reduced the number of file storage cabinets and stored documents by 50%. This led to an acceleration of our paperless operations, with the number of copies reduced by 77% and waste emissions reduced by 64% compared to before the move. We are also working to conserve energy by reducing power consumption by 59% through the use of LED lighting with motion sensors.
Recycling and reuse
Starting in June 2021, in line with the SDGs, we have been reducing the use of plastic products in our offices as listed below, and gradually replacing them with products that can be reduced, reused, and recycled. Each employee is taking action by doing what they can, such as using their own bottles within the company.
The containers used for the catered lunches used by employees are basically reusable tableware, and we are thoroughly committed to not generating waste. In addition, while we encourage the avoidance of using PET bottles as much as possible, we collect and recycle 100% of the PET bottle waste that is discarded.
We would like to introduce our cafe initiatives within our company.
- Ice cream containers are being changed from plastic to paper. Ice cream drink containers (cup 5g + straw 1g) x 60 cups = 360g/day
- Hot drink container lids are now paper Hot drink container lids 2g x 140 cups = 280g/day
- Previous plastic consumption for iced and hot drink containers: 640g/day ⇒ 14kg/month ⇒ 168kg/year
This translates to a reduction of 336 kg of CO2
336 kg of CO2...the same amount as the CO2 emitted by 336 vending machines in a day
