Hello.
My name is Okazaki and I am in charge of HULFT seminar.
Hello, this is Okazaki, in charge of HULFT seminar.
As we approach October, the temperatures are gradually getting cooler.
The temperature fluctuates greatly every day, with some hot days and some cool days, so please take good care of your health.
In the previous article, we introduced the key points for building file transfer infrastructure with HULFT, comparing it with FTP. However, there are several other ways to link files and data besides FTP and HULFT.
This time, we will focus on "file sharing" and explain how to use it in conjunction with HULFT file transfer!
When you want to exchange files in your environment, you will probably consider what system to use, and the first method that comes to mind is "file sharing."
As you all know, file sharing is something you can get started with very quickly and at very low cost.
If you are sharing files within your company, you can create and update files on the file server, eliminating the need to transfer files.
If you want to exchange files with people outside your company, there are now many cloud-based file sharing services available, so you can share files anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.
In addition, there are services that have the functionality required for business purposes, such as encrypted communication using SSL and the ability to set detailed access permissions for saved files.
Until recently, there were concerns about security due to information leaks, but now there are many services that can be used safely between companies.
Customers who attend our seminars often ask, "Wouldn't file sharing be enough without using HULFT to file transfer?"
Certainly, if you are exchanging simple files that do not require code conversion, there may be cases where you do not need to use HULFT.
So how do you choose between HULFT file transfer and file sharing?
As an example, let's think about who you want to give the file to.
The first is when you want to periodically pass files to the system.
First, regarding the "to the system..." part, when exchanging files, there may be times when you want to link the received files to another system.
For example, a file sent from a branch office may be linked to the company's mission-critical system, core system.
These files often require regular collaboration at set times each day, and often involve multiple collaboration points.
When you start to think about the keywords "regular" and "multiple locations," you'll want to systematize and automate the process because manual coordination is too time-consuming.
In such cases, products like HULFT that have job integration and scheduling functions have advantages.
On the other hand, file sharing is suitable when you only want to give a file to a specific person at a certain point in time.
For example, if you don't need to connect to another system and just want to give a file to a specific person or group, a file sharing service that notifies you of the shared link when the file is shared is convenient.
In addition, files that are sent once and do not need to be updated regularly, such as sales materials or product introduction materials, are best suited to easy-to-use file sharing.
In this way, when you want to transfer files to a system on a regular basis, you can automate file transfer using HULFT
File sharing is an easy-to-use option when you want to give a file to a specific person only at a certain point in time.
Of course, when considering systemization, there are many other things to consider, such as maintenance and scalability of the server and OS, safety such as data backup, and stability if using external services.
By choosing between HULFT file transfer and file sharing based on your intended use, you can build file transfer infrastructure that is best suited to your environment.

What did you think of this content?
This time we looked at who we communicate with, but if we systematize everything, communication with people may become weaker.
Sometimes it's nice to communicate things like, "I've left the file" or "Thank you."
This time we covered "file sharing," but next time we'll introduce another way to link files!
Stay tuned for next time!
