(Released on Tuesday, December 10, 2024) HULFT 10 Release Announcement

The latest major version of the file integration middleware "HULFT," "HULFT 10," was released on December 10, 2024.

For many years, HULFT has supported mission-critical operations across a wide range of industries and sectors thanks to its high reliability and ease of operation.
HULFT 10, a major version upgrade, builds on the technological expertise accumulated to date and realizes many of the advancements required for modern IT environments to meet the demands of the cloud and internet era.

What has changed in HULFT 10?

  1. Powerful support for diversifying IT environments
It supports not only on-premise environments but also cloud and container environments, ensuring stable file sharing in any environment, from mainframes to cloud-native environments.
  2. Increased transfer speeds and reduced CPU costs in z/OS environments
By adopting high-speed, highly efficient compression technology, it achieves significant speed improvements compared to conventional methods and reduces CPU costs in z/OS environments, providing stable performance even when transferring large files.
  3. Enhanced security for safe data integration
Equipped with encryption functions that meet international standards, it strengthens the protection of important information such as card information and transaction data, and also contributes to reducing the burden of complying with legal regulations.
  4. Improved operability and manageability
Equipped with API-based integrated management functions, it enables centralized management and control of HULFT clusters distributed on-premise and in the cloud. The modern and intuitive UI reduces the burden of operational management and improves the work efficiency of IT personnel.

HULFT 10 lineup

With HULFT 10, we have added four new products to the lineup that support new usage patterns and use cases while retaining the same robust file transfer technology as before.
It supports the diverse requirements of modern IT infrastructure, such as cloud-native architecture, API integration, and support for internet communications, and achieves an even higher level of "system connectivity."

  • HULFT 10 for Container Services (new product)
This product makes HULFT available as a service on Amazon ECS.
    Please check here for details.
  • HULFT10 for Container Platform (new product)
This product allows you to run HULFT on the Red Hat OpenShift container platform.
    Please check here for details.
  • HULFT10 Smart Proxy (new product)
This is a proxy product that enables secure file transfer over the Internet while remaining in a closed environment.
    Please check here for details.
  • HULFT 10 API Gateway (New Product)
This is a new management product that allows you to centrally manage and operate multiple HULFT instances from both a web browser and REST API.
    Please check here for details.

Main new features and changes

HULFT 10 includes a wide range of functional enhancements aimed at improving performance, security, and operability on each platform.

Zstandard compression for faster transfer speeds

The new compression method "Zstandard" is now supported. Compared to conventional compression methods, Zstandard offers faster and more efficient compression performance, and is particularly effective for highly complex files such as binary files. It reduces the processing load of compression and decompression, enabling faster file transfer and contributing to improved overall business throughput.

Support for zEDC compression on z/OS

In mainframe environments (z/OS), the compression function provided by IBM's zEnterprise Data Compression (zEDC) is now supported. This enables high-speed data processing while reducing CPU load even during file transfer within z/OS, optimizing performance in mission-critical system, core system.

Uses FIPS 140-2 compliant cryptographic library

As part of its enhanced security efforts, HULFT 10 employs a cryptographic library certified by FIPS 140-2, which complies with U.S. government standards. It also complies with PCI DSS v4.0, the security standard for the credit card industry, allowing businesses in industries requiring high security standards, such as finance and government agencies, to use HULFT with even greater peace of mind.

Automate sending and send requests with REST API

With HULFT 10, it is now possible to make sending and send requests via REST API via Smart Proxy, allowing file transfer operations that were previously performed using scripts or operation management tools to be controlled from external services such as SaaS. It works in conjunction with job management systems, RPA, and other applications, helping to automate and streamline the entire transfer process.

Supports secure internet transmission

HULFT10 Smart Proxy enables secure file transfer over the Internet without the need for a dedicated line or VPN between send and receive sides. There's also no need to open dedicated ports, significantly reducing the burden of building and operating cloud integration and inter-site communications. This allows for a more flexible and secure network environment.

Unified management of multiple products through a unified UI

HULFT 10 API Gateway, which can monitor and manage multiple HULFT Products collectively, has significantly improved the user experience. System configuration, transfer status, error information, and more can be checked on a unified screen, and integrated management via Web API is possible, helping to reduce the burden on IT administrators and improving the speed of troubleshooting.

Many other improvements and fixes have also been made. Please see the release notes for details.

HULFT continues to evolve

In this way, HULFT 10 has evolved into a file integration platform that maximizes the value of "connections" while accommodating all advances in corporate IT, including cloud, containers, APIs, and security. HULFT will continue to evolve, based on its reliability and performance, as a platform that supports our customers' business transformation.
