What is the Cloud?

Cloud computing is an IT term that refers to a service model that allows users to access computer-related resources as much as they need, when they need them, via a network such as the Internet.

For example, companies can use the cloud to access storage, databases, application software, and more, without having to purchase their own servers and build their own IT environments.

Cloud computing can be broadly divided into three types: IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), which provides physical hardware and networks; PaaS (Platform as a Service), which provides platforms such as application execution environments and databases; and SaaS (Software as a Service), which provides applications and services.

Services provided by the cloud are called cloud services.
