Explain the meaning of digitalization.
What is digitalization?
Digitalization refers to the digitization of specific business or manufacturing processes. It is a term that means optimizing the entire workflow using digital technology to improve operational efficiency and increase the added value of products and services. Specifically, common examples include significantly reducing labor and automating data entry tasks through the introduction of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI-OCR, or coordinating and streamlining sales and marketing activities by combining systems such as SFA (Sales Force Automation), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), and MA (Marketing Automation). In Manufacturing, another example is monitoring and analyzing equipment and production lines using IoT, sensors, and AI to help with quality control, failure prediction, and production planning optimization.
A word very similar to digitalization is digitization, which refers to the digitalization of paper media and analog information. Digitization, along with digitalization, is an important step in promoting DX (digital transformation). Generally, digitization is the gateway to promoting DX, while digitalization is considered a precursor to DX.
