What is Data Modeling?

Data modeling is the process of analyzing and defining the structure and relationships of any type of data collected or generated by a company. A data model describes the definitions of data and the relationships between data, and creating a data model is called data modeling.

Data modeling is generally performed through three steps: conceptual design, logical design, and physical design. The outputs of each phase are a conceptual model, a logical model, and a physical model.
