Explain the meaning of electronic payment.

What is electronic payment?

Electronic payments are payment methods that are processed by sending and receiving electronic data instead of cash. Specific examples include payments using credit cards and debit cards, as well as electronic money payments, mobile payments, code payments, and carrier payments. The advantage of all of these is that users do not need to carry cash and payments are smoother. Electronic payments also include bank payments (internet banking), ID payments, and convenience store payments used for online shopping.

There are three types of electronic payments: prepaid, postpaid, and real-time pay. Prepaid is a prepayment method where you charge a certain amount in advance and pay from that amount when you purchase a product. In contrast, postpaid is a deferred payment method where you are billed for the purchase amount later. Real-time pay is an immediate payment method that works in conjunction with banks and other financial institutions, where payment is made immediately up to the account balance when you purchase a product.
