"Confidentiality"

Explain the meaning of confidentiality.

What is confidentiality?

Confidentiality is one of the basic elements of information security, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access the information in question. It is an important measure to prevent damage caused by unauthorized access or information leaks. To ensure confidentiality, methods such as setting access rights, password authentication, and encrypting the information itself are necessary. Specific measures include not setting easy passwords such as "1234," not leaving IDs and passwords on notes, and not taking information outside the company.

Confidentiality, along with integrity and availability, are considered to be one of the three elements of information security (CIA), and maintaining these three elements is defined as the basis of information security measures.

Integrity refers to keeping information up to date, accurate, and complete, while availability refers to the state in which information can be accessed and used by those who need it when they need it.
